Everybody’s teaching us
on what to do.
I thought for a change,
I’ll speak for a few minutes
to the world of entrepreneurs,
‘What are some of the common mistakes
that we should avoid?’
We should not.
And the ‘Number 1’ in that list is
Don’t get carried away by your success.
I think there is more than enough literature
that is available in the world…
to inspire you how to bounce back from a setback
bounce back from a failure.
We have enough references.
I don’t know why…
we don’t have enough literature
that is available or enough speeches that is available
to tell us…
how to handle success.
In the 29 years, I’ve been a teacher…
I can give you enough inspirational examples
about how people have bounced back
from failures.
But I can give you more examples,
not even examples,
I can give you more warning
on how many people
unable to handle their success…
either got too carried away,
over expanded,
or their success fed their ego,
they became very arrogant,
and unable to handle their success,
in every field,
not just entrepreneurship.
In every field, I can give an example,
on the number of people
unable to handle their success
who had actually fallen…
in life.
Kite flying is
one of the national sport in India.
And always remember this,
kite flying is telling you,
‘Hold your head high,
but keep the feet on the ground!’
Stay grounded.
Find a way to dedicate
whatever success that you’ve achieved,
to God
or your team
or the people who have guided you,
to your mentor, coach, whatever it is,
the easiest way to stay grounded,
no matter how much you achieve
in life is
to find a way by which you dedicate that success
to someone other than you.
It not only keeps you in a very inspired space
all the time asking…
‘What else? What next? What more?’
but it does not feed your ego
and keeps you grounded.
So you continue to be
an instrument of success…
But you never feel this ownership of success.
And the greatest beneficiary
in the process is
not the people to whom you’re dedicating
your success to.
But it helps you to remain peaceful,
and not get carried away by the success.
So, let’s keep achieving all through our life.
And let the story of our life be…
for all the success he or she achieved in life,
success never contaminated the beauty of the person,
the person was, is, and will continue to be.
All I’m telling is,
we need more and more beautiful people
to remain beautiful people
and yet achieve
phenomenal quantum of success
in life.
Can you and me join that list?
We will achieve everything
that we can achieve
and still remain at the core…
the beautiful human beings
we always were…
and we will continue to be.
